What’s new at DFW Catholic
October 10, 2008
McKinney, TX (DFW Catholic) – After a considerable amount of information gathering, discussion, planning, and work, the management team of MetroCatholic is pleased to announce the completion of DFW Catholic’s latest revision.
Some of the new features are scrolling “Featured Headlines”, a new navigation bar with drop down menus for ease of use, a re-formatted “Local Events Calendar” which is much more user friendly (still being updated), an “Editorial” section, “Lifestyle” section to cover a wide array of topics including entertainment, home improvement, health, recipes and more.
Also new is “RealCatholicTV”, the first Catholic television web-only broadcast. RealCatholicTV presented on DFW Catholic is completely free, however, there are also premium services available. (Read the incentive, exclusive to new DFW Catholic subscribers.)
DFW Catholic now includes “MetroCatholic Blog”. Several bloggers are lined up to talk about a wide variety of topics and to solicit responses from readers. “DFW Spotlight” will highlight groups, organizations, clergy, teachers, schools, academic achievers, etc. in our area.
Visitors will now find a dedicated “Pro-Life News” section, “Recent Comments” and “Most Popular” posts sections for easy browsing, 12 themed sections providing links to other sites for the benefit of the reader. These include links to sites about Liturgy, Prayer, Mary, Saints and Angels, Parenting, Catechesis, Marriage, and more. (While not yet completed, there are more than 60 links available already.)
There is now a section dedicated to the Knights of Columbus which may be found on the navigation bar, complete with a drop down menu to various Knight-related areas. The “Featured” area of this section will be used for news about Knights but also to highlight councils and individual members.
Of course, readers will still find US, World, and Diocesan News as well as Daily Mass Readings and Latest Headlines section. Still in its infancy is a database of DFW parishes.
