WEB CONTENT SPECIALIST

The Web Content Specialist will work within the Digital Media Office as a key contributor to successful websites, blogging, social media, email newsletters/marketing, and other various digital media projects. Responsible for creating, acquiring, editing, and updating the code, text, links, images, and interactive components on multiple websites and other related Internet technologies. Contribute an important user-oriented perspective to the process. Ability to produce and publish user-centered content under tight deadlines is paramount in this role.
•Administer website content: strategize, recruit, design, create, edit, update, publish, archive, and remove.
•Acquire, optimize, and/or create text/copy, forms, graphics, audio and video, interactive elements, etc.
•Proofread and edit submitted material; following best practices for web writing and linking.
•Merge information from a variety of sources to simplify, combine and link related material.
•Design webpages, determining size and arrangement of components, qualify the purpose of page, recognize and resolve design issues and errors.
•Moderate forums, proofread, edit and/or publish content contributions made by other users.
•Perform regular reviews of the website to ensure content accuracy, timeliness and relevance.
•Publish purposeful content balancing organizational standards, site goals, and user needs/expectations.
•Develop and/or assist in production/delivery of email marketing, RSS/Podcasts, social media, telecommunication/apps and other Internet/web related marketing or interactive communications.
•Collaborate with design/development/multimedia resources; coordinate and implement changes.
•Coordinate timely responses to inquiries, comments, suggestions received regarding the website(s).
•Maintain confidentiality of correspondence, conversations and materials processed through the Department of Communications and its component offices.
•Author and maintain an editorial web content policy and a web style guide of content and design standards.
•Optimize search engine position; recommend modifications to improve usability, accessibility, and visibility.
•Monitor industry trends, technologies and standards; research, recommend, and apply new technologies.
•Assist Web Manager to collect, analyze, and report on web analytics.
•Conversant in basic duties of Web Manager and ability to perform essential tasks of the position.
•Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned by Web Manager; flexible in special circumstances.
•B.A. in Digital Media, Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field, or equivalent experience.
•Minimum of three years of hands-on experience creating, writing and editing internet-based communication.
•Proficient in Adobe CS (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Acrobat, Flash) and Microsoft Office.
•Experience using content management systems, blogging and email marketing software (Sitecore and/or Word Press a plus).
•Current with advancements and web/digital best practices; competent/conversant in W3C standards, information architecture (IA), usability, writing for the web, search engine techniques and optimization, browser compatibility, visitor interactivity, ecommerce, security, audio/video compression, and web animation.
•Strong critical thinking, analytical skills; high level of accuracy; exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
•Knowledgeable on Catholic beliefs, missions, leadership; Archdiocesan organization and structure.
•Excellent English verbal/written communication skills; exceptional spelling, grammar, and proof reading.
•Resourceful, reliable and accountable with a strong work ethic. (700)
