The University of St. Thomas is seeking a Vice President, Finance. The Vice President, Finance (VP, Finance), as a true business partner and strategic leader, is responsible for directing and assessing organizational financial performance and initiatives to ensure the University’s financial strength and growth are aligned with the its stated strategic objectives. The VP, Finance provides both operational and programmatic support to all functional and academic areas of the University. The VP, Finance has executive supervision of all finance and accounting related activities and functions (Business Office), facilities and physical plant operations, human resources, property acquisition and disposition, commercial real estate management, risk management, and legal affairs. The VP, Finance will work closely with the Board of Directors and serve on various board-level, executive, and administrative committees. The VP, Finance, as a key member of the executive management team, is a member of the President’s Cabinet, and will report through the Provost to the President.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES
•Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration required; MBA/MSA preferred
•Minimum 10 years of experience in various financial management positions with progressive management experience.
•Experience with a non-profit or institution of higher education preferred.
•Demonstrated leadership using good judgment and solid decision making skills.
•Demonstrated ability to formulate and articulate sound policies and demonstrated ability to identify, resolve, and consult on a wide range of administrative and personnel issues with a clear sense of institutional priorities.
•Individual must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, effective speaking and presentation skills, and proficient writing skills.
•Demonstrated strong project management skills and the ability to effectively lead multiple initiatives.
•Individual must demonstrate a strong personal work ethic and be self-motivated and results-oriented, with strong leadership abilities/management proficiency and accomplishments
•Individual must be able to think creatively and strategically to successfully mediate and negotiate with individuals and groups internally and externally.
•Demonstrate the skills necessary to effectively deal with ambiguity and to overcome obstacles to cooperation and foster harmonious relations.
•Demonstrated strong team building skills and the ability to work effectively and collegially with others.
•Individual must have demonstrated effective organization and planning skills.
•Evidence of leadership in professional associations.
