I don&#039;t know that The Van Thuan can be changed to Cardinal Thuan  or Francoir Xavier Thuan or not. The Van in Vietnamese name almost means nothing.  At the time he was born. Van is very common middle name for boys and Thi is common middle name for girls. Most of us as Vietnames can tell the gender of a person by using this logic without prefix Mr. and Mrs.

I hope that the Vatican will name Him as Saint Francoir Thuan if he becomes Saint in the future.

This is my humble opinion.
