Position Available: Technical Coordinator – SG9

Hours: M-F – 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (hours vary regularly to meet the needs of events)
RESPONSIBILITIES: Record and edit the Distinguished Speakers Series, Graduation, Bioethics conference, talks and weekend conferences. Work with students and outside contractors to deliver quality, mission-fit work that advances the multimedia presence of the University. Serve as Producer, Director, Videographer, and Editor for various University projects serving departments across campus through on-site and in-studio productions. Location Producer for EWTN’s On Location. Line Producer for annual 13-part television series, Franciscan University Presents, and Talks distributed on FaithandReason.com. Oversee editing of archive video for FaithandReason.com. Assist in the development of graphics, animations, and show elements that elevate the university’s production standards. Manage the University Television Studio, working with staff, vendors, and students to keep studio workflow and equipment up to date and running effectively. Train student crew on all aspects of production in and out of studio through pre-production, production and post-production. Manage data workflows and process videos into final formats for Broadcast, Web, and DVD distribution. Other duties as assigned. Position reports to Creative Director of Video Projects.
QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent organizational, communication, and managerial skills required. Minimum of bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in television. Minimum three years of experience in the television industry including a minimum of two years in a television studio setting and one year’s experience editing on an AVID system. Basic knowledge of television engineering helpful. Must be able to operate all types of television equipment and understand all aspects of production, including digital editing and digital audio production. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Ability to lift and carry 30-40 pounds of television equipment necessary. Working knowledge of Studio Switchers, routers, and patch bays as well as PC and Mac computer system platforms. Knowledge of Adobe Production suite is necessary. Some producing and writing skills preferred. Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith a plus. Must understand and support the mission of Franciscan University.
