The Archdiocese of Chicago is in the midst of the To Teach Who Christ Is capital fundraising campaign, a $350 million effort for parish needs, Catholic education and faith formation. The Archdiocese seeks nominations or applications for a newly created Relationship Manager position to assist the campaign effort.
The Relationship Manager is part of the campaign team and is responsible for the planning, cultivation and solicitation, as well as stewardship of, a portfolio of major gift prospective benefactors to benefit the To Teach Who Christ Is campaign and the ministries it supports.
Duties and Responsibilities
Identify, qualify and solicit major cash, pledge and bequest gifts from potential benefactors in support of the Archdiocese of Chicago (AOC) by matching archdiocesan fundraising priorities with prospective benefactor interest.
Manage a portfolio of 175-250 prospective benefactors: develop written solicitation strategies and proposals, purposefully guide them to make major investments in the AOC and develop relationships to maximize their giving potential over time.
Work closely with and coordinate cultivation activities and solicitation activity with other AOC representatives including the archbishop, bishops, clergy, religious, gift managers and other staff and volunteers.
Participate in the prospect management process to ensure coordination of major gift cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities.
Participate in the creation of communications materials to support the articulation of the case for support, solicitation of gifts and reporting to benefactors.
Ensure appropriate gift use reports are prepared and communicated effectively back to major gift benefactors.
Plan, coordinate and implement activities to generate a greater sense of connection and ownership for ministry priorities from major gift benefactors.
Produce solicitation letters and proposals, scripts and other collateral materials associated with the solicitation of major gifts.
Provide gift solicitation training and opportunities for participation for volunteers to be involved in the gift solicitation process.
In coordination with the Campaign Manager, formulate annual solicitation goals, benefactor moves management activity as well as income and expense budgets. The minimum activity expectation will be 240 verifiable face-to-face visits with either potential or existing benefactors annually. The minimum solicitation expectation will be $2.5 million annually.
Track progress against measurable outcomes, analyse results, formulate methods for improvement, and report regularly to the Campaign Manager, and others as appropriate.
Provide timely, written reports regarding the outcome of cultivation and solicitation activities.
