Belmont Abbey College (Belmont, NC)
Belmont Abbey College is seeking a well-qualified, experienced Registrar. The Registrar coordinates course scheduling, student records, and registration. Primary responsibilities include preparing internal and external academic reports; resolving technical issues concerning the academic software or enquiries about academic programs; coordinating real-time processing of information for courses and student records in the PowerCampus database; enhancing on-line degree audits and registration for the Self Service web portal; and helping to develop academic policies and procedures. The Registrar is also responsible for evaluating and posting student transfer credit and transcript requests; delivering regular FERPA training; enforcing academic standards and course scheduling protocols; streamlining the storage of academic data; and managing all related responsibilities. The Registrar, who also serves as an ex officio member of the Academic Affairs Committee, reports to the VPAA for academic programs and to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for course scheduling and I.T. issues. The Registrar also prepares the Academic Calendar and Master Schedule of courses for the College; supports the Office of Institutional Research in the accurate entry, validation, and collection of data for federal and state reports on student enrollment; and manages Matriculation and Commencement. The Registrar supervises assigned personnel to ensure that the total operations of the office are responsive to all campus constituencies concerning certification of academic requirements for all degree tracks and the core curriculum.
The qualified candidate must have at least a Master’s degree in the humanities or higher education administration; a minimum of three years’ experience working in higher education with academic records and course scheduling; a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain working relationships with colleagues in other academic affairs divisions, as well as with faculty, students, and staff campus wide; excellent verbal and written skills; a thorough understanding of accreditation guidelines; and proven ability to deliver high-quality work while performing multiple tasks simultaneously. The Registrar must be a person of unquestioned integrity and must work well with both traditional and adult students. The successful candidate will be well organized, attentive to detail, and firmly committed to maintaining the confidentiality of academic records. In addition, it would be most helpful if he or she had experience working with PowerCampus and expertise with educational technologies and Microsoft Office. The ideal candidate will also have the following attributes: flexibility, patience, a good sense of humor, and a thorough understanding of Liberal Arts education. Experience teaching at the undergraduate level would be a plus. All candidates must be able and willing to actively promote and advance the mission and Catholic, Benedictine principles of the College.
