Santa Cruz Catholic School, a University of Notre Dame ACE Academy, is seeking a school principal for the 2014-15 school year. Santa Cruz provides an extraordinary education in the faith to form future leaders and saints, preparing children for a life that makes God known, loved, and served.
Santa Cruz currently enrolls 230 children in its preK through 8th grade program. A parish school located on the south side of Tucson, Santa Cruz serves a culturally rich population and has a history of excellence since its establishment in 1920.
Santa Cruz works closely with the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) of the University of Notre Dame as one of the nation’s first Notre Dame ACE Academy schools. In the past three years, Santa Cruz has enjoyed increased financial stability and strengthened student achievement. Loyal, faith-filled, hard-working, and talented faculty and staff members lead the school community.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an unwavering commitment to providing a Catholic education of the highest quality to as many children as possible, ensuring that Santa Cruz students are on the path to college and heaven. As a Notre Dame ACE Academy school leader, the new principal at Santa Cruz will focus on achieving comprehensive excellence in three key areas of schooling: Catholic identity, stewardship, and teaching & learning.
The successful candidate must have a clear vision of and dedication to the values and philosophy of Catholic education. Candidates must understand the stewardship challenges facing Catholic schools and possess strong business/financial management skills to ensure the long-term sustainability of the school.
The candidate must also be willing and able to make instructional leadership a top priority, with an emphasis on mission-driven, data-informed decision making and teacher supervision.
- Be a practicing Catholic in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church;
- Possess (or be eligible to receive) a State of Arizona principal certificate, including required graduate coursework in educational leadership;
- Possess (or be eligible to receive) a State of Arizona teaching certificate;
- Be able to meet the Diocese of Tucson, Arizona Department of Education, and accrediting agency requirements for principals; and
- Spanish language ability and masters degree preferred.
