La Reina High School (Thousand Oaks, CA)
La Reina High School, a private, single-gender, Catholic, college preparatory junior and senior high school for girls, sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame and located in Thousand Oaks, California, is seeking a President to begin in summer 2014. La Reina is accredited by the Western Catholic Education Association and the Western Association of Schools & Colleges. Its current enrollment is 555 girls.
The President is the Chief Executive Officer of the school and works closely with the Principal and Board of Trustees to develop and implement the school’s strategy. While the President is the primary external officer of the school, s/he is also responsible for supervising the Principal (the primary internal and educational officer who supervises all Academic Directors). The Finance, Advancement, Admissions, Facilities and Mission Integration Directors report directly to the President. The President’s key responsibilities include, but are not limited, to: (1) upholding and advancing the school’s Catholic identity and educational mission as promulgated by the Sisters of Notre Dame, (2) ensuring the financial stability of the school, (3) leading all development efforts of the school, (4) acting as the primary intermediary between the school and the Board of Trustees, (5) overseeing the legal affairs of the school, (6) serving as the school’s main representative in matters involving the local Archdiocesan, educational and civic communities and (7) serving as a strong role model for the students and community.
The ideal candidate must be a practicing Catholic and will (1) have a doctorate in Education or Educational Administration, or an advanced administrative degree, (2) have education experience, preferably at the high school level, (3) have managerial experience, (4) have financial management skills and experience, (5) be an advocate of the benefits of single-sex education, (6) have a proven and successful track record of fundraising, (7) be a dynamic public speaker capable of inspiring the many stakeholders of the school, and (8) be an energetic, decisive, collegial, institution-builder, capable of collaboratively leading La Reina, together with the Principal, into a new phase of growth and innovation in Catholic education.
