A diverse and dynamic parish located in New Haven, CT., St. Rose of Lima, seeks a full time, bi-lingual pastoral associate to serve a large and growing Spanish speaking community as well as English speaking parishioners.

The primary responsibility of the pastoral associate is to work in collaboration with the pastor in the ongoing development and training of parish leadership, to assist the pastor, staff, and those lay leaders in building and strengthening the parish. This will include identifying, recruitment, and training of new leaders. Together with parish leadership, the pastor, and staff, develops strategies to help parish leadership identify those concrete issues of parish concern on which the parish will work, to engage other parishioners in this work, and to integrate the work with people’s spiritual formation and transformation.

The successful candidate will: be a practicing Roman Catholic, know the liturgy, teachings, traditions, and social justice doctrine of the Church; be fluent/literate in both English and Spanish; appreciate the Latino cultures; have experience in Latino parish ministry, possess good personal organizational skills; and experience in congregational organizing.

Minimum education required BA in Theology, but it is preferable that the candidate have attained a MA in Theology or a M.Div. Salary commensurate with skill, experience, and archdiocesan guidelines.

St. Rose of Lima is a vibrant community with a long history of leadership development and action in public life. The newest members of this community hail from 18 Spanish speaking countries. St. Rose of Lima is one of the founding members of Congregations Organized for a New Connecticut – CONECT, an organization of 27 communities of faith that train congregational leaders to act in public life.
