Night Staff

Purpose: The Night Staff works in partnership with all staff to ensure hospitality and security at House of the Good Shepherd. They are mission-oriented in their work toward the healing, recovery and empowerment of survivors of domestic violence.

Status: Non-exempt, Part-time
Reports to: Executive Director

Responsibilities:
• Be familiar with the Reception Manual
• Be responsible for front door activity and security throughout the building
• Maintain the resident’s sign-in and sign-out log, apartment keys, and cell phones
• Attend to emergencies as needed basis and record any incidences appropriately
• Obtain confidentiality statement and copies of IDs from visitors and volunteers when necessary
• Make frequent rounds and check that appropriate doors are secure
• Manage inventory of office and household supplies and order when needed
• Stay up to date with email and reports on program happenings
• Write a report outlining all activities and happenings during shift
• Create calendars and birthday signs
• Listen to messages on residents’ answering machine and give messages to the appropriate staff
• Maintain the lobby, performing simple clean-up and straightening when needed and make sure children’s sheets and towels are washed
• Perform basic administration tasks when requested

Qualifications
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred
• Knowledge of effects of trauma and domestic violence on families and children and ability to respond appropriately
• Knowledge of computers and basic programming
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Ability to work flexible hours
• Strong and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds
• Passion for working toward the healing and recovery of survivors of domestic violence
Special Requirements:
Must be able to perform physical activities such as lifting children ages 0-4 or heavy items; bending, standing, climbing or walking. Must be able to work safely in an environment containing biological conditions which may be unhealthful or hazardous (such as bodily fluids and waste, germs, childhood diseases). Must pass a Criminal Background Check.
