LEARNING RESOURCE SPECIALIST
Education: Middle/High School, FT Temp
Notre Dame High School (San Jose, CA)

Responsibilities:

•Works with and provides academic support to students who have a diagnosed learning need

•Provides individual tutoring/resources/remediation for students assigned for support

•Meets with students’ families to discuss assessment, and current needs of the student, as well as how best to support students’ success at Notre Dame

•Provides classroom teachers with information and resources for working with students with learning accommodations

•Builds relationships with local school district to facilitate testing, accommodations, and evaluations of students with learning needs

•Acts as the SSD Coordinator for all standardized testing (ACT, College Board), including contacting and submitting all documentation to the College Board and ACT for approved accommodations

•Attend various school functions

Minimum Qualifications:

•MA in Special Education or related area
•Experience working in a secondary school as a regular classroom teacher and/or as a Learning Resource Specialist
•Knowledge of standard tests used to evaluate student learning differences
•Ability to interpret tests and to implement appropriate strategies to support student learning

Terms of Employment –
Maternity Leave Replacement (Spring Semester 2014)
•.8FTE ( 4 days/week)
•Temporary position – spring semester
