The Mexican American Catholic College (MACC) is a private institution preparing seminarians and lay leaders for faithful service to a multicultural Church. MACC is in need of an ESL and SSL Coordinator to steer the ESL and SSL Programs in curriculum development, program management, assists with hiring faculty, development of teaching tools, research of best practices and program accreditation. The successful candidate will have experience in teaching all language skills, grammar, culture and administration of language programs.

The Languages Coordinator will provide leadership to language faculty and is responsible for ensuring quality throughout the instructional process; planning, organizing and directing instructional and administrative activities and the ability to creatively implement a full or partial immersion program complementing rigorous classroom learning to achieve optimal language proficiency for students.

The Languages Coordinator should demonstrate the ability to plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning; employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students including strategies to meet diverse students’ needs and lead the ESL & SSL programs through the CEA and SACSCOC accreditation process. MACC is a Catholic institution of higher education. The successful candidate must respect and actively support MACC’s Catholic identity and mission.

•Must have experience in both program management and administration and teaching of English as a Second Language to post-secondary students as well as curriculum development.
•Experience in teaching and managing undergraduate developmental learning programs.
•Strong analytical, organizational, and teaching skills.
•Administers oral proficiency interviews for incoming students to facilitate placement and evaluation of students in classes and will coordinate with the registrar to arrange classrooms and contract faculty.
•Exhibit familiarity with DynED language learning program.
•Excellent administrative skills, organizational skills, computer skills, and detail-oriented.
•Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the field or discipline; stay current in subject matter through professional development, involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conference or workshops.
•Teach classes as assigned during the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.
•Participate in faculty meetings and events as required.
•Contribute to program and curriculum development processes.
•A master’s degree in education and Spanish language skills are essential. A degree in TESL is preferred.
