Tuesday of the Tenth Week in Ordinary Time

Reading 1
2 Cor 1:18-22

Brothers and sisters:
God is faithful: for our preaching which was to you, was not, It is, and It is not. For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, by me and Sylvanus and Timothy, was not: It is and It is not. But, It is, was in him. For all the promises of God are in him, It is. Therefore also by him, amen to God, unto our glory. Now he that confirmeth us with you in Christ and that hath anointed us, is God: Who also hath sealed us and given the pledge of the Spirit in our hearts.

Responsorial Psalm
Ps 119:129, 130, 131, 132, 133, 135

R. Lord, let your face shine on me.
Thy testimonies are wonderful:
therefore my soul hath sought them.
R. Lord, let your face shine on me.
The declaration of thy words giveth light:
and giveth understanding to little ones.
R. Lord, let your face shine on me.
I opened my mouth, and panted:
because I longed for thy commandments.
R. Lord, let your face shine on me.
Look thou upon me,
and have mercy on me according to the judgment of them that love thy name.
R. Lord, let your face shine on me.
Direct my steps according to thy word:
and let no iniquity have dominion over me.
R. Lord, let your face shine on me.
Make thy face to shine upon thy servant:
and teach me thy justifications.
R. Lord, let your face shine on me.

Gospel
Mt 5:13-16

Jesus said to his disciples:
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing anymore but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men. You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but upon a candlestick, that it may shine to all that are in the house. So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

The readings on this site are not official for the Mass of Roman Rite of the Catholic Church in the USA, but are from The Challoner Douay Rheims version of the Sacred Bible, a source free from copyright and entirely in the public domain.

The Challoner Douay Rheims version was prepared by Bishop Richard Challoner, about A.D. 1749-1752, by revising the original Douay Rheims version and by comparing it to the Latin Vulgate version of the Bible.
