Job Summary:

The Director of Information Technology is responsible to provide strategic vision, leadership, planning and management for the development, acquisition, implementation and support of the information technology function for Our Sunday Visitor and its subsidiaries. This position reports to the Presidents of OSV and is a member of the Senior Management Team in both Divisions.

Essential Job Functions (*=Non-essential tasks):

Strategy & Planning

•Formulate and deploy long-term strategic plans for acquiring and enabling efficient and cost-effective information processing and communication technologies
•Manage IT department operational and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources
•Assist with the identification and evaluation of acquisition opportunities that are strategic to OSV and its subsidiaries.
Operational Management

•Define and communicate project milestones and resource allocations to the senior management teams of OSV
•Develop and review IT capital and expense budgets and ensure they comply with stated goals, guide lines and objectives
•Directs and maintains the business relationships with key internal decision makers and significant external partners to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization
•Directs the management of software analysis, development, acquisition, implementation and support of all company software and hardware
•Selects, develops, and assesses performance and motivates qualified staff to effectively carry out department functions and provide for the continuity of managerial and specialized skills.
•Coordinate with business partners and subsidiaries to reduce duplication of effort and maximize long-term value for OSV
•Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision
•Develops a business interaction model and a method to measure customer satisfaction across internal business units and corporate functions
•Assists in the company wide Web initiatives and supports direction in each division to meet demands and the strategic vision of the company
•Implements and supports Lean Enterprise initiatives for continuous improvement
•Keeps abreast of state-of-the-art developments through trade and professional involvement
•Directs the development and reporting of performance metrics and direct actions to continuously improve managing the business of IT. Routinely reports IT status and progress to Senior Management.
•Establishing specific goals and programs to achieve and maintain customer satisfaction, and promoting continual improvement in customer benefits via IT
•Negotiates and administers maintenance and purchase contracts on technology hardware and software
•Directs and manages a large staff of IT employees, providing guidance and direction
•Perform project evaluation and cost-benefit analysis

Experience preferred:
•A minimum of 10 years in Information technology field
•A minimum of 5 years in a Management/Directors field
•5 years of IT management responsibility, preferably in a senior-level position with broad exposure to operations, strategic planning and application and infrastructure domains
•Strong human relations skills to select, develop, mentor, discipline and reward employees

•A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field of study
•A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred

•A thorough knowledge of computing, web systems, security, net working and technological support services
•Demonstrated experience developing purchasing contracts and maintaining contractual relationships

•Previous experience in lean initiatives
•Ability to interface internally and externally to ensure high-quality outcomes
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

•Ability to manage multiple large projects simultaneously
•Strong management and delegation skills
•Ability to lead, prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of the Catholic Church preferred

Working Environment:
•Incumbent will be working in an office environment
•Incumbent will travel as needed to subsidiaries

Supervisory Responsibilities:
•As Director of Information Technology the incumbent is the direct or indirect supervisor of the entire Information Technology Department of Our Sunday Visitor and AmericanChurch
•Incumbent will have a direct/indirect hand in staffing of both exempt and non-exempt employees in OSV’s Information Technology Department
