St. Catherine of Siena Academy (Wixom, MI)

Position is responsible for assisting the school Principal in implementing the school mission in forming young women in the feminine genius through the planning, administration and management of St. Catherine of Siena Academy. The Assistant Principal assists with supervising staff, developing curriculum, disciplining students and working with families to bring the good news of the gospel into every aspect of the St. Catherine’s family.
Essential Functions:
Instructional Leadership
A. Provide assistance in planning, implementing and evaluating the instructional program
B. Further the development of curriculum and can guide teachers in curriculum mapping
C. Can aid teachers in differentiated instruction
D. Support student learning needs of students and work with Guidance Department to meet those needs, i.e. experience with 504 plans and education accommodations plans
E. Foster professional development opportunities for staff to facilitate educational and spiritual goals
F. Assists staff with classroom management issues
Student Interaction
A. Helps establish a vibrant student culture rooted in the Catholic faith
B. Enforces the Student Handbook and Honor Code by monitoring student behavior and implementing discipline policy to enhance virtues
C. Monitors student achievement and addresses academic concerns with individual students
D. Monitors student attendance and addresses concerns with individual students
E. Promotes student activities, i.e. after school clubs, student government events, community service projects
F. Fosters opportunities for student body to grow spiritually and academically
Administrative Functions
A. Monitors the hallways and aids in supervision at school events
B. Assists in staff evaluations, hiring process and development of employee handbook
C. Attend meetings with the AOD and assist in MNSAA accreditation and other school reports
D. Assist in the development of building policies and procedures
E. Crisis management development and implementation of crisis plan
F. Act as liaison with parent club organization in meeting the needs and mission of the school
G. Attend School Board meetings as necessary
H. Supervise Athletic Director and athletic events

Essential Skills:

Knowledge of the New Evangelization
Demonstrate ability in communication and relationship building with students, staff and parents
Knowledge of best practices in curriculum development and classroom assessment
Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures


1. A Master’s Degree or higher in education administration/leadership
2. A valid Professional Teacher Certificate
3. A minimum three years experience as teacher and/or administrator
4. Protecting God’s Children Certificate
