GIFT SHOP MANAGER

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
Familiarity with the Catholic Church and its teachings preferred.
Experience in Outlook, Word, Excel required.
Work experience in retails sales and/or merchandising, including two years’ work experience in a supervisory capacity.
Familiarity with point of sale (POS) and inventory systems.
Manage the receiving, pricing, restocking, and display of merchandise.
Ensure shop is well stocked and organized, items are well displayed, pricing strategies are appropriate, storeroom inventories are kept up-to-date, and sales transactions are properly executed and documented.
Oversee and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
Maintain retail inventory, accounting, and financial records including cash control records, sales records, and credit card transactions.
Manage daily banking functions associated with gift shop operations.
Maintain register system.
Maintain theft and shoplifting awareness and enforce cash register and other policies controlling internal shrink.
Conduct store opening/closing procedures.
Train, supervise, and manage gift shop associates.
Provide coverage on the sales floor as needed, including lunch relief, during staff shortages, and to offset Gift Shop payroll during slower times.
Organize, prioritize and schedule work assignments. Ensure that staff is aware of procedural changes.
Manage all aspects of vendor sales and annual inventory.
Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. Analyzing operating and financial statements for profitability ratios.
Formulates pricing policies by reviewing merchandising activities; determining additional needed sales promotion; studying trends.
Responsible for sales and marketing plan – Oversight and further development of online sales and direct mail pieces.
Responsible for partnership relationships with organizations such as VSI.
Create and maintain a positive environment for associates. Responsible for making sure that work areas are clean, organized, and presentable.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. (110)
