The Office of Laity and Family Life supports parishes, agencies, and other apostolates in their mission to enrich the domestic Church by sharing the Catholic faith with the lay faithful and their families. Position Summary:
The Family Life Coordinator is a full time position. The person in this position will foster a spirit of cooperation and Catholic Christian Community within the workplace. This position requires collaboration with all other members of the OLFL staff and other agencies and apostolates within the Archdiocese. In addition, an attitude of service and attention to the needs of the parishes in the area of family life are essential to success. This position will collaborate with the Coordinator of Marriage. This position requires working in the evening and on weekends when necessary. This person will also strive to advance the mission of the Office of Laity and Family Life with a concentration in Family Life Ministry. He or she will coordinate events, workshops and conferences and give group presentations when necessary to the mission of OLFL. At times, the person in this position will need to recruit, train and coordinate volunteers to assist with specific events/programs. Further, this person will research and coordinate a list of vetted resources for the following areas of assistance not limited to but including:
• Family Life Ministry
• Family Faith Formation
• Marriage Enrichment
• Parenting
• Divorced & Separated
• Other areas that impact the life of the Family
Further, this person will work with the parishes/deaneries to provide necessary support in these areas, so he or she will possess a willingness to visit parishes and deaneries when necessary. He or she will evaluate any existing or potential new programs/ministries using the mission of the Office of Laity and Family Life and Ministry/Program Feasibility Assessment Criteria provided in this document. Each program should be Christ centered. He or she will complete a budget and track expenses for each event he or she coordinates.

Knowledge & Experience Requirements
• Thorough understanding of the teachings of the Catholic Church as approved by the Magisterium
• A knowledge of and commitment to the dimensions of Catholic theology regarding marriage including Theology of the Body
• The ability to articulate clearly and charitably the Church’s teaching regarding same sex couples
• Bachelor and/or graduate degree preferred or courses in the areas of Theology

Duties and Responsibilities:
Marriage Prep Program:
• When necessary coordinates and presents parish and deanery trainings for Archdiocesan facilitators and sponsor couples using the Marriage Prep program
Family Life Ministry:
• Maintain library of vetted resources
• Collaborate with priests and parish leaders
• Develops/Maintains Family Life programs when necessary
• Develop/implement workshops for training leaders in Family Life Ministry
• Network with other Family Life Ministry Offices and organizations
• Attend Public Policy Committee meetings in Jefferson City, as an appointed member

• With Staff members: This position requires cooperative and supportive relationships with all staff members.
• With parish employees and the general public: This position requires responding with a service-oriented attitude
• With other Archdiocesan agencies: This position requires the ability to effectively interact and cooperate with other Archdiocesan agencies. Familiarization with other agencies is often necessary for referrals. For example, the mission of OLFL often overlaps with the ministry of other agencies like the Respect for Life Apostolate; Paul VI Inst; the Office of Worship; Hispanic Ministry, etc. (145)
