ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
Education: Elementary, FT Employee
Holy Name School (Ketchikan, AK)

Small Catholic elementary school (pre-K to 6) in southeast Alaska seeks principal for 2014-15 academic year to replace retiring principal. Holy Name School has been serving the parish and community of Alaska’s “First City” almost continuously since 1946.

Holy Name is part of the Diocese of Juneau, the smallest in the nation by population. The bishop (a big supporter of Catholic education) is known to virtually everyone, parishes are more intimate (ours being about 400 families), and life is “human scale.” Ketchikan, an island community of about 13,000 in the heart of the beautiful Tongass National Forest, is the southernmost city in the state, has all the amenities of any similarly-sized town, enjoys a maritime climate, and is a summer cruise ship destination. The successful candidate will be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing. He or she will be highly motivated, possessing excellent communication and promotional skills, a strategic academic vision, knowledge of current academic methods, and proven leadership and management skills. Candidate should hold a valid state certification (principal’s credentials preferred), as well as professional experience in Catholic schools. Salary commensurate with experience and responsibilities, with benefits. (157)
