Human Life International (HLI) is seeking a contractor to assist with e-commerce development on our website www.hli.org. The contractor will build a fully-functioning, robust, and user friendly online store to replace the current web store found on hli.org. Vendor who provides bid must provide links to three active stores that he/she has built, and three client references. Additionally, HLI is looking for programmer assistance for a new online donation platform which can be integrated as part of store, or as part of main site (latter preferred). Further details:

Date of completion: Final delivery date is open to negotiation BEFORE signing of contract, subject to mutual agreement. HLI will request mutually agreed upon discounts to follow if/when deadlines are missed (see below).

Form of agreement: A signed contract for delivery of final product, subsequent interim of support. Possibility for further contract support if HLI is satisfied with delivered product.


1) Stand-alone e-commerce site

Platform negotiable, but should be widely used so as to maximize HLI flexibility in finding support
Front end design will match HLI’s main site (www.hli.org) as closely as possible and will be approved by HLI for guest experience and functionality
“Back end” functionality must be user-friendly (agreed to by HLI before proceeding), EXTREMELY ROBUST in terms of inventory management, report generation, payment flexibility (ability to change orders or take orders directly through back end), shipping control. This MUST BE part of the store itself, not a separate software add on. (Vendor should have knowledge of how inventory control works, and what kinds of reports are necessary for regular reporting, and the ability to customize reports).
Latest security protocols installed (esp. credit card numbers not stored)
Store must be easy to update – that is, necessary security and other updates must not result in a cascade of problems from customizations or “hacks” done to the base site
Back end should be accessible to unlimited staff without additional paid accounts

2) Donation solution

Solution can be integrated as part of store, or as part of main site (latter preferred)
Should work with our existing online banking solution
HLI must have ability to easily design custom landing page for each campaign
Solution must be able to track donor source
Latest security protocols must be in place

3) Data move

Vendor will move existing store data (products, orders, customers) to new site fully and accurately (to correct corresponding fields).

Delivery: Final product must be approved as completed on mutually-agreed-upon delivery date, or HLI will insist the following discount schedule: 10% following failure to meet first deadline, 20% discount for one week late, 30% for two weeks late, 40% for three weeks late, 50% for four weeks late.

Vendor who provides bid must provide links to three active stores that he/she has built, and three client references.

HLI commits to respond to vendor submissions and questions in a reasonably timely way, so as to keep the project on schedule. If HLI fails to respond in a reasonably timely way, as acknowledged in email at the time of the delay, the final delivery date may be pushed back to another mutually-agreed-upon date. HLI will provide host server and url setup.
