Job Summary:

The position seeks to faithfully uphold the orthodox teachings of the Catholic Church and promote the mission to evangelize current active parishioners, inactive Catholics and all searchers and seekers of the Catholic faith. This person will also create and implement Adult Faith Formation programs for the community. This position will lead the St. Isaac Jogues community effort to welcome, educate, spiritually enrich, and grow the community through program creation, formation experiences, and sacramental support within the vision of the New Evangelization. This position plays an active role in Parish leadership, volunteer coordination and program and ministry support. In coordination with the Pastor, his designated delegate, and office staff this position leverages new media and technologies to create and support faith formation for the community of St. Isaac Jogues and all those who are touched by our Liturgies, programs, and ministries. The Director of New Evangelization works directly under the supervision of the Pastor or his designated delegate, and in cooperation with the Parish Staff.

Position Responsibilities:

New Evangelization Strategy and Planning

Will collaborate and synthesize program and ministry ideas within the scope of the New Evangelization and with guidance and approval from the Pastor or his designated delegate
Reflects the voice and vision of the Pastor or his designated delegate when he cannot be present at Parish leadership or volunteer meetings and engagements
Recruits, trains, and supports volunteers to assist with evangelization and formation efforts
Works collaboratively with Parish staff to engage their ministries incorporation of the message of the New Evangelization in their programming
Effectively establish a Parish plan to implement the New Evangelization effort among the various aspects of parish life.
Help shape, formulate, and implement all initiatives and ideas for evangelization efforts suggested under the guidance of Pastoral staff and leadership
Provide ongoing support and resources within the scope of the New Evangelization
Manage and maintain the ongoing messaging of the New Evangelization at St. Isaac Jogues with outside community organizations and any media outlets
Serves as the primary resource and coordinator for the New Evangelization effort
Maintain clear and comprehensive project plans and evaluations of all New Evangelization initiatives
Clearly express the vision and goals of New Evangelization within the St Isaac Jogues community through face to face contact, web technologies, or print pieces

Ongoing Faith Formation

Coordinates specialized evangelization projects and programs, and helps develop on-going educational workshops and programs related to the New Evangelization
Creates and provides resources to foster evangelization within the Parish communities
Remain the lead staff member for parishioner engagement and involvement
Evaluates, approves, and coordinates faith formation curricula among the Adult Education and Sacramental preparation ministries of the parish.
Creates and fosters New Evangelization opportunities for multi-generational faith formation programming, in cooperation with parish staff members.
Be the face of hospitality and formation among the St Isaac Jogues Community

Adult Faith Formation

Knowledge of and the ability to faithfully convey the teachings of the Catholic faith, in addition to any Church documents and resources pertaining to Adult Faith
Ability to develop, organize, implement and review adult faith formation programs, and parish ministries/apostolate
Coordinate the Sacramental Preparation Programs: Baptism, Marriage, RCIA, and assist staff with responsibilities in those areas
Coordinates Adult Faith programs and processes for formation among adults of all ages
Oversee the Adult Faith Formation office, and volunteers, serving as a resource and liaison between them and the larger parish staff and community
Create a plan to disseminate and convey the program offerings from the Adult Faith Office, utilizing all communication channels
Promote opportunities to include Adult Faith and the New Evangelization in all aspects of Parish Life
Directs and oversees various faith formation programs that support a lifelong deepening of the Catholic faith for all parishioners consistent with the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC), National Directory for Catechesis (NDC), diocesan guidelines, and parish needs

Sacramental Support

Knowledge of and experience in providing and supporting sacramental preparation for children, youth, young adults, and adults — being a resource to School, RE, and youth ministry programs.
Adherence, knowledge, experience, and competency of Church doctrine, teaching, and Sacramental preparation resources and programming.
Plan, implement, and review all preparation programming for individuals to receive the sacraments, create the program plan and follow up to engage those who received sacraments into the greater community.
Prepare, plan, implement and review all materials for the following sacramental programs:
Adult Catechesis and Formation (RCIA/RCIC process)
Baptismal Preparation
Young Adult Ministry
Marriage Preparation
Annulment Ministry

Parishioner Engagement

Create, design, and implement a Welcome Ministry plan that supports and reflects the vision of the New Evangelization effort
Manage a creative and spiritually enriching New Evangelization office that consists of staff and lay volunteers
Oversee the new parishioner registration process, provide resources and opportunities for engagement for new parishioners and implement a follow up strategy to continue participation
Review and plan an engagement process for inactive Parishioners that introduces and educates
Recruit and oversee parishioner leadership participation in an advisory role to Parish leadership
Serves as a resource for evangelization commissions, parish councils, parish staffs
Utilizes computer technology (website, e-mail) as a means of communication and evangelization with current, inactive, or new individuals within the community
Responds to the concerns of Catholics who are inactive and/or alienated.
Responds to inquiries from those interested in the Catholic faith

Office Management

Plans and administers the Office of New Evangelization budget
Maintains a collaborative and positive attitude
Maintains and administers web technologies to advance the messaging of the New Evangelization vision at St. Isaac Jogues
Oversees office staff and volunteer responsibilities in regard to New Evangelization
Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed by the Pastor or his designated representative.

Position Requirements:

Practicing Catholic with an understanding of the New Evangelization according to Pope John Paul II, and who supports the teachings and dogma of the Roman Catholic Church
Professional and positive team player in all aspects of the job responsibilities
Expertise in volunteer management and recruitment
Undergraduate or graduate degree in Theology or Religious Education preferred
Experience in Parish Leadership role and working within a collaborative office environment
Excellent communications skills in written or spoken word
Ability to plan, design, and assess programs in a timely manner
Prefer experience in marketing or designing ministry programs in print and digital channels
Flexibility in office hours preferred (Typical Monday thru Friday work week, however evenings or weekends might be necessary per Pastoral leadership request)
Must be well organized with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and have a system for following up with pending issues
Familiarity with various forms of new media and Catholic digital media is desired
Must be proficient in necessary office software including Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, etc.)
