A) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Director of Faith Formation is a servant-leader who works with the parishioners, staff, and pastor to encourage the faithful to live their lives more fully as disciples of Jesus Christ. The director works collaboratively to formulate and implement a comprehensive and cohesive plan for lifelong faith formation. The director works to assist the parish to provide and incorporate catechetical, social, liturgical, and service components to all parish ministries. These parish programs and ministries are to be grounded in Church teaching and to help all people live out the mission of the Church given to us by Jesus Christ.

B) AREAS OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
Faith Formation
• Responsible for directing, organizing, coordinating, and promoting the total parish approach to adult faith formation through a process of strategic planning that moves the parish into deliberate efforts to advance the vision and reality of adult faith formation
• Responsible for directing, organizing, and coordinating the kindergarten through fifth grade faith formation programs (i.e. Centralized Program, Neighborhood Groups, and Home School) following the archdiocesan guidelines “Resounding the Good News” and “Family Catechesis” which supports children and their families in their formation of faith
• Provides appropriate preparation for adults preparing to baptize a child, for families preparing a child for the celebration of First Reconciliation and First Communion, and for adults and children seeking to join the Church through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults in accordance with “Signs of God’s Love” by the Archdiocese of Baltimore
• Utilizes written and digital medias to catechize, evangelize, and inform
• Oversees the parish library and other catechetical resources for the parish

Administrative
• Coordinates efforts to recruit, train, evaluate, and support parishioners to serve as catechists, committee chairs and members, and in other positions supporting faith formation
• Oversees the registration process for faith formation programs
• Prepares the Faith Formation budget and acts as a good steward of those funds
• Ensures appropriate assistance is provided in accordance with archdiocesan guidelines for mentally and physically challenged and Spanish speaking persons with in the programs related to this position
• Assists, leads, or directs other tasks as assigned by the pastor

C) AUTHORITY
In collaboration with the Pastor, the Director of Faith Formation makes decisions regarding the development, planning, and execution of the afore mentioned programs and areas.

D) PRIMARY INTERACTIONS
• Routine communication and collaboration with the Pastor
• Routine communication with the parish staff and parishioners
• Routine communication with and direction of volunteers

E) GENERAL
• Serves as a collaborative member of the parish staff, taking part in parish planning, direction, research, and decision making
• Maintains close contact with and attends events provided by the Archdiocesan Division of Evangelization as it pertains to this position
• Serve as an active member of the Baltimore Association of Catechetical Ministers (BACM) in efforts to collaborate locally and regionally with other parishes

F) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Bachelors or Masters Degree in Religious Education, Religious Studies, Theology, Pastoral Ministry or related field
• Must have or be willing to obtain STAND Certification
• Committed to continuing professional and spiritual development
• Theological perspectives consistent with The General Directory on Catechesis, Sharing the Light of Faith: The National Directory for Catechesis, and Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us.
• An active Catholic in good standing with the church
• Full participation in the communal worship and life of the Church
• Good interpersonal relationship skills
• Good rapport with children
• Good oral and communication skills
• Good computer skills-proficient with Microsoft Office
• Able to bring people together to accomplish a common goal(s)
• Good organizational and administrative skills (90)
