DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

Saint Dominic Church (Oyster Bay, NY)
Director of Development reports directly to the Pastor and is responsible for leading and managing and supporting the fund development program for Saint Dominic parish. Primary responsibilities are outlined below:
-Develop manage and implement all aspects and maintenance of a three year fund development plan for all Parish related Development and Stewardship activities with a goal to raise annual and capital campaign dollars to support, maintain and grow critical sacramental, ministerial and educational programs.
-Identify, educate, cultivate, solicit and close gifts.
-Solicit, and meet with and maintain an active pool of prospective benefactors who can support the Parish and its ministries, including individuals, corporate and foundation supporters.
-Assist in the scheduling and coordinating of face to face visits for the Pastor and other key volunteers as appropriate.
-Create multiple opportunities for giving.
-Insure timely and accurate acknowledgement and recordings of all donations.
-Prepare reports as appropriate and submit to Pastor.
-Plan, design and supervise the production and distribution of bi-annual parish newsletter and other marketing materials.
-Recruit, train and lead staff and volunteers to support fund raising marketing and Stewardship activities..
-Create and maintain appropriate Development office information collaborating with individual Parish entities as needed for Parish website.
A practicing and in good standing, faithful Catholic with a full understanding of the Church’s sacramental, ministerial and educational mission..
-Baccalaureate degree or higher.
-Experience in successful management of institutional advancement programs, major gift solicitiations, budgets, volunteers and staff.
-Thorough knowledge of fund raising principles.
-Enthusiasm and excellent people skills, must be articulate and a team player.
-Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and execute.
-Ability to develop new and enhance exising events and/or activities.
-Thoroughness in planning and implementing project plans, including goals, budgets, timetables and action steps to achieve objectives.
-Proficient in Razors Edge Data Base management.
-Ability to work with Pastor, lay leaders, volunteers and parish staff.
-Ability and willingness to travel.
-Flexibility with hours.
