Job Specification – Director of Development

Holy Family seeks a highly motivated, dynamic, and experienced professional to lead its Development Office and ensure the success of its programs, campaigns, and events. The candidate should reflect character and professionalism consistent with the mission and values of the school.

Summary: In collaboration with the Principal, Board of Trustees, and applicable school committees, the Director of Development will implement the School’s development program. The Director will be responsible for designing, refining, and implanting the School’s fundraising program and for cultivating relationships with key community and constituent groups. The Development Office, under the direction or the Director, will advance the mission and vision of Holy Family High School.

Reports to: Principal and Board of Trustees

Duties and Responsibilities:

•Work with the administration to establish goals and objectives related to fundraising including capital campaigns, major gifts, grants, annual gifts, endowed funds, special event and other major gifts.
•Create, publish and present various development reports.
•Monitor the Development Office budget.
•Create a calendar of Development events and related timelines.
•Maintain, rate and update a current prospect database of all constituents groups including current and potential donors, alumni, grandparents, parishioners, foundations, businesses, religious orders and friends.
•Collaborate with the Archdiocese, the Catholic Foundation, and other similar institutions regarding fundraising.
•Serve as a resource and coordinator for any events or other school fund-raising
•Solicit, recruit, and organize fundraising volunteers.
•Direct and assist the Alumni Director in coordinating alumni communications, events, and oversee the data base used to track alumni involvement and support.
•Lead, direct, and motivate parents, students, faculty and staff in development events and activities and educate the community on the mission and ministry of philanthropy.
•Determine effective public relation material, including social media materials, and determine the timing and format of alumni report publications.
•Plan, organize, and execute existing fundraising campaigns including the School’s Annual Appeal, Golf Outing, Golf League, Gala, and Tree and Wreath Program. Additionally, the Director will assist the Athletic Department in the annual Tiger Fun Run.
•Assist in planning, organizing, and executing any new fundraising campaigns such as a Capital Campaign and the Colorado Gives fundraiser.
•Identify projects to be funded by grants and assist Development Office Personnel in researching and exploring funding and matching grant opportunities.
•Mentor other staff to support fundraising and marketing efforts.
•Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential corporate & foundation sponsors, and individual donors.
•Develop and grow our individual donor base; manage annual giving campaign; cultivate major gifts.

Education, Experience, and Other Skills Required:

•Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
•Three years of development experience and demonstrated accomplishments in fundraising required.
•Proficient in Written, Verbal, and Presentational Skills including the ability to write promotional and technical material.
•Knowledgeable of and experience in management, planning, program development and execution.
•Demonstrated ability to support and promote teachings of the Catholic faith and the mission of a Catholic high school and a commitment to living and exemplifying ethics.
•Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to develop trust and creditability, to work with people of diverse backgrounds, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
•Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including evenings and occasional weekends. Proficient in written and verbal communication, specifically technical and promotional writing skills.
•Passion for the value of and need to support Catholic education.
•Strong partnership-building and event planning skills.
•Understanding of HFHS and local community or be willing to learn. (179)
