Position: Director of Development

Overview: Directly reports to the President. The position of Development Director is a full-time position primarily responsible for leading the Development initiatives for Archbishop Moeller High School, including: major gift development, leadership annual giving, planned giving, volunteer management and stewardship.

S/he works specifically with alumni, members of the business community, friends, faculty, staff and volunteers to raise private philanthropic support for both general and specific needs of the School. In addition s/he manages approximately 50 volunteers from various committees. Within the school, this position works most directly with the President, Development office staff, Main Event staff, Communications Director and Alumni Director. S/he works indirectly with the Principal, Athletic Director and other administrative team members. Externally, this position interacts with alumni, donors, parents, board members and leaders in the community.

Position Expectations: Archbishop Moeller High School seeks to further expand its institutional support among alumni, alumni parents, current parents, community supporters, foundations and other extended friends of the school. The Development Director must commit herself/himself to:
• Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift donors and annual fund gifts of $5,000+
• Assume principal responsibility for coordinating prospect visits for the President
• Establish goals and coordinate fundraising strategies, including specific solicitation strategies of individuals, as head of the Development Team
• Maintain a prospect list of 150 prospects and conduct 100 moves per year
• Write, submit, track and steward grant proposals and goals for Moeller High School
• Supervise the Main Event Coordinator, Development Office Adm. Asst. and Database Coordinator
• Coordinate and oversee Moeller High School’s Annual Giving, Planned Giving, and Scholarship programs
• Oversee President’s Dinner and other Development-oriented events
• Meet monthly with 30-40 prospects/donors in face to face meetings
• Work with the President and other staff to set annual goals and measure success of fundraising/outreach efforts
• Assume principal responsibility for coordinating prospect visits for the President including follow-up work related to the President’s visits, contacts and gifts received

Position Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree; minimum of four years successful fundraising experience; successful track record in soliciting in the five and six figure range
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively and courteously with alumni, other constituents and the public
• The demonstrated ability to strategize, implement and build constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers
• Must possess strong writing, planning and organizational skills
• Flexibility and initiative, as well as the ability to work independently, combined with the skills for thriving in a team environment to achieve institutional goals
• High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information
• Ability to effectively articulate the mission of Moeller High School
• Experience with Raiser’s Edge or a similar constituent database, including Wealth Engine
• Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends, as needed
