University Catholic Center- Director of Development
The Director of Development is a key member of the University Catholic Center (UCC) staff and is expected to contribute substantially to the improvement and success of the UCC’s major gift program and annual fund programs. The position reports directly to the Director of Campus Ministry.
Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to the following:
-Designs, implements and manages Major Gifts activities including identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and maintaining records for major donors.
-Develops giving strategies that align with long-range strategic planning of the UCC.
-Designs and implements an Annual Fund plan including but not limited to:
*Promoting stewardship within the resident community.
*Coordinating annual fundraising events.
*Managing all direct mail campaigns.
-Communicates with donors and prospects in ways appropriate to them, including mail, phone, email, and personal visits. (15-20 personal visits per month is expected)
-Involves the Director and other staff/volunteers in face-to-face visits when appropriate.
-Maintains detailed records on donors, prospects, and communications
-Develops and submits grant proposals for general operating expenses as well as specific program priorities.
-Ensures consistency of messaging across all fundraising and marketing activities to advance and clearly articulate the mission and vision of University Catholic Center.
-Connects with alumni both within Texas and outside of the state to engage and update them on the ministry and the needs of the Catholic Center.
-Promotes and solicits gifts for endowments to benefit the Catholic Center.
-Supervises the stewardship process, including prompt gift acknowledgement.
-Supervises, trains, and motivates Development Associate to ensure productivity and employee satisfaction.
-Recruits, selects, trains, and supervises volunteers/student for special development projects and events.
-Works closely with the Director, Development Board, Campus Minister, and the Longhorn Catholic Council to coordinate marketing and public relations activities with development priorities.
-Produces regular reports on development progress for the Director of Campus ministry.
-Dedication to the mission and ideals of the University Catholic Center.
-A practicing and faithful Catholic who is respectful and knowledgeable about the Catholic faith and able to professionally represent the University Catholic Center.
- Two or more years professional fundraising or related experience, preferably in Catholic and/or higher education environment. Specific education in non-profit fundraising may be considered in lieu of experience.
-Proven experience in gift cultivation and solicitation.
-Demonstrated ability to develop and write major gift and foundation grant proposals.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Enthusiasm and excellent people skills are essential.
-The successful candidate must have the flexibility to handle the needs of a fast-paced office and the special needs of benefactors.
-Background in a campus ministry program as a student and/or professional.
-Proficiency with social media including Facebook and Twitter.
Compensation includes a salary commensurate with the employee’s expertise and experience as well as a full range of employee benefits including health and dental insurance, life insurance, and a retirement plan with employer contributions.
This is a full-time position located in Austin, TX. Occasional travel is required.
