Pinecrest Academy depends heavily on the support of our generous donors. We participate in many donor-focused fundraising activities including identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding of parents, corporations, foundations, alumni, Board members, and partners around the world. The funds we receive provide unrestricted support to our school, helping us fulfill our mission to develop leaders who will transform society.

We are currently seeking a Development Officer to work at our Cumming, Georgia campus. This is a Full-time position (40+ hours per week), with some evening and weekend hours required.

Development Program Overview

• The Annual Fund – $287,000 contributed in 2011-12
• Major Gifts – Capital and Endowment
• Gala – oversight of the School’s major school community event held annually
• The Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program
• Data is management with Blackbaud (Version 7.07)

The Position

The Development Officer has responsibility of strengthening and growing the donor base and the development program to meet assigned financial goals. The Development Officer supports and reports to the Chief Advancement Officer. The Officer drives a strong revenue-oriented culture, based on market-driven targets. He/she will lead a development team in planning, managing and implementing fund development strategies for the school. He/she functions in a highly visible, externally facing role and will represent the school in identifying and cultivating donors with the greatest capacity as well as managing leadership volunteers.

Primary Responsibilities include the following:
• Implement the Development plan in collaboration with the Chief Advancement Officer, Head of School, Senior Leadership, and create a Development Team. Implement short- and long-term fundraising strategies for operating support, facilities/capital fundraising, endowment growth, and special projects.
• Oversee and coordinate all fundraising activities for all Pinecrest Academy constituents: Board members, parents, alumni, faculty/staff, friends, corporations, foundations, students; identify prospective individual and institutional donors; analyze effectiveness of development efforts and make improvements accordingly; establish advancement policies, systems, and procedures.
• Supervise the Development Office staff, and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the school’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, (making recommendations for) hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Appoint, lead, evaluate, and manage the development staff to include all aspects of alumni relations activities.
• Manage all donor and prospect relationships; map out solicitation strategies for all constituencies creating a Development Team to include Chief Advancement Officer, Board, Head of School, parents, grandparents, alumni, parents of alumni, and friends.
• Engage and solicit existing and prospective donors by mail, by phone, through events and in face-to-face meetings; recommend and implement initiatives to increase donor retention and acquisition.
• Oversee preparation all fundraising materials, including solicitation and acknowledgment letters, and funding proposals for the capital campaign; oversee submission of annual reports to foundations and endowed funds updating the use of their donated funds, as well as the continued advancement of the school.
• Implement electronic information management and reporting systems.
• Participate in a yearly budgeting process, particularly as it relates to the Development Office.
• Be an active and visible member of the school community through participation in school-wide events, including parent association meetings, faculty meetings, student performances, awards ceremonies, etc.
Compensation will be highly attractive and competitive with schools comparable to Pinecrest Academy in the Atlanta area and southeast, and commensurate with experience.

Candidate Qualifications and Characteristics

• Has a commitment to the Catholic faith, particularly as manifested in the Purpose and Mission of Pinecrest Academy.
• A Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university required. Advanced degree an added advantage. Five to ten years of related experience and/or training required. CFRE certified preferred, but not required.
• An ability to facilitate the development of plans and a vision for the long term.
• Demonstrated skill in enlisting volunteers and coordinating their effort and energy towards the attainment of strategic initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to carry a portfolio and solicit donors.
• Understanding of planned giving and endowment growth programs
• Fluency and comfort in working with “the science” of the advancement field, i.e. predictive models that forecast the likelihood and propensity to contribute.
• Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, and to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
