Dallas Diocesan Message: International Year of the Priest

Dallas, TX (MetroCatholic) – The following is a a message from the Dallas Diocesan Office.

Beginning on June 19, 2009, our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI has declared the Year for Priests in conjunction with the 150 anniversary of St. John Marie Vianney, whom he has declared the Universal Patron of Priests.  The USCCB website has a number of good resources to assist in observing the Year for Priests.

Also, please take note of the Plenary Indulgence being granted by the Holy Father. For details, please click on   http://www.usccb.org/yearforpriests/plenary-indulgence.shtml.  Also of special note will be the International Retreat for Priests sponsored by the Congregation for the Clergy being held in Ars, France beginning on September 29, 2009 as well as the special gathering of priests with the Holy Father to be celebrated at the Vatican at the close of this year on June 19, 2010.
