Part-Time Position Available: Commissioner – Washington Catholic Athletic Conference

The Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) seeks applicants for the part-time position of Commissioner. One of the premier high school athletic conferences in the country, the WCAC consists of 12 Catholic High Schools in Washington, DC metropolitan area and sponsors interscholastic competition
for boys and girls in 17 sports. The Commissioner plans and supervises all league playoff and championship activities; works with athletic directors in the development of all sports schedules and
maintains all league rosters; makes decisions and implements league policies contained in the league constitution and by-laws; chairs meetings of athletic directors; handles all league financial matters including budget preparation and annual financial reports; maintains all league correspondences; acts as the public spokesperson for the league; works with schools and national sports federations to ensure best practices in all league activities. The Commissioner is responsible to the WCAC President under the
direction of the league’s governing board and serves for a one year, renewable term.

Minimum qualifications include excellent administrative, communication and human relations skills, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and experience in education or an education related field as a coach, teacher and/or athletic administrator. A Master’s degree is desirable. The position requires attendance at evening and weekend athletic activities, meetings and school events. Compensation is negotiable.
