CCSWOH is seeking a dynamic Chief Development Officer to design, lead and grow an innovative development effort for its agency and programming.

Position Summary:
Design, lead, and grow an innovative development effort with focus on major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, donor recognition, cross-sector partnerships/cause marketing and coordination with affiliated funding campaigns. The CDO will set donor strategies consistent with the CCSWO mission and set a firm foundation for funding growth amidst the challenges of a changing environment for human services. The CDO in coordination with the CEO and CCSWO Board development committee will set and deliver fundraising goals that relate to the strategic priorities of CCSWO. The CDO will be aided in this effort by high-level performance outcomes of CCSWO programs, CCSWO reputation and name recognition, local human service partnerships, and national accreditation.

Essential Job Functions:
• Develop and grow major gifts through donor identification, cultivation, maintenance and recognition
• Develop and grow a planned giving program
• Direct annual giving campaign by the Director of Marketing, Media and Annual Giving
• Maintain accountability and compliance standards for donors and funding sources consistent with CCSWO policy, values, and mission. Maintain Council on Accreditation performance standards
• Maintain and promote CCSWO development consistent with Catholic identity and mission
• Prepare annual development plan in coordination with CEO to meet strategic goals of CCSWO Board. Receive board approval and deliver annual plan
• Report to and partner with board development committee in fund development. Determine accountabilities for board members and fundraising volunteers. Evaluate performance regularly through board development committee
• In coordination with development committee chair, develop meeting agendas so that the committee may fulfill its responsibilities effectively; develop an annual calendar to cover all crucial development issues in a timely fashion
• Design and implement cost-effective fund development programs while maintaining high level of quality and solid return on investment
• In coordination with CEO, CFO and development committee, enhance current donor database, gift management systems, and reporting system
• Coordinate with supporting campaigns including the United Way the Greater Cincinnati and Archdiocese of Cincinnati Catholic Ministries Appeal
• Coordinate with fund raising professional at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Clark Champaign and Logan Counties
• Coordinate development efforts with CCSWO foundation grant development, contract grant writing wand agency marketing
• Direct CCSWO program marketing and media through Director of Marketing, Media and Annual Giving
• Other development and marketing functions as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:
• A bachelors degree in fundraising, public administration, business or a related field is preferred
• 7-plus years of professional fund development experience in a nonprofit organization
• Specific success in developing and growing major gifts and planned giving program is preferred
• Membership in a professional fundraising association such as the Association of Fundraising Professionals or the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning is expected
• Expected to have demonstrated experience and confidence in asking people to contribute time and money. Tangible experience in expanding and cultivating existing donor relationships, utilizing a “moves management” system. A highly competent enabler of volunteers and staff
• Broad-based knowledge of various development campaign activities including; internet/social media, direct mail, ethics, motivations for giving and volunteering, research and cultivation practices, standard fundraising techniques including face-to-face solicitation, proposal writing, special events, telephone solicitation and, development office functions including gift processing, prospect and donor histories, and fundraising reporting
• Familiarity with computer systems with demonstrated experience in donor databases and reporting systems including donor research and development
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• High energy and passion for CCSWO mission and a commitment to the role of the Catholic volunteer based human services agency
• Faith based Catholic fundraising experience would be beneficial
• Ability to construct, implement and deliver the annual strategic development plan

Supervisory Responsibilities: Director of Marketing, Media and Annual Giving for CCSWO and some clerical staff.
