CEMETERY PREPLANNING COUNSELOR

Archdiocese of Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA)
The Archdiocese of Los Angeles is seeking experienced, highly motivated individuals to provide preneed information and assistance to Cemetery patrons. In addition to the sales duties, you will provide services and client relations activities and establish and maintain effective communication with cemetery office administrative staff, parish priests and mortuary officials.
Positions available in the following locations:
1. All Souls Cemetery, Long Beach (bilingual Spanish required)
2. Calvary Cemetery, Santa Barbara (bilingual Spanish required)
3. San Fernando Mission Cemetery, Mission Hills (bilingual Spanish required)
4. Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
•Achieving goals and objectives related to preneed transactions conducted at the Cemetery;
•Selling cemetery property and merchandise in accordance with established sales objectives and procedures;
•Completing contracts and other required documents and providing sales and customer service, recordkeeping;
•Providing patron services, answering questions, escorting visitors, researching client family files and records and assisting client families;
•Developing sales leads through personal contacts, telephone solicitation activity and group marketing activities such as parish outreach programs;
•Setting appointments and making presentations at other Archdiocesan Cemeteries and occasionally in prospective patron family homes;
•Attending interment services of client families;
•Maintains records of personal sales activities and performance results in the manner prescribed by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
•Active member of a Roman Catholic faith community.
•High School Diploma or equivalent
•Previous Cemetery sales experience or at least 1 year sales related experience
•Valid Driver’s License, good driving record and automobile insurance
•Ability to travel to local sites for meetings and appointments to make presentations in client homes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•Develop and maintain effective working relationships and maintain confidentiality
•Must be able to read and interpret Cemeteries policies, procedures, contracts and customer files and communicate effectively in written and oral form.
•Provide excellent customer service skills with tact, patience and diplomacy
•Effectively present information to patron family members, co-workers and management
•Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
•Experience using CRM and HMIS.
•Ability to organize and coordinate projects and follow multiple requests through to completion.
•Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions and percentages and to apply concepts of basic mathematics.
•Proficiency in data entry and reconciliation techniques.
•Work independently with initiative and little supervision.
•Have an understanding of Christian Burial in the Catholic Church.
