TITLE: Campus Minister Serving Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Del Mar College

POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Young Adult and Campus Ministry

The Director of Campus Ministry assists in leading and directing the ministry, pastoral programs, and events of the Newman Catholic Student Center within the context of supporting higher education at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Del Mar College. Such programs include liturgical celebrations, retreats, service programs, catechetical programs, spiritual programs, evangelization programs, and social gatherings. The Director of Campus Ministry seeks to advance the academic, spiritual, and vocational goals of college students and young adults in the Corpus Christi area.

-Helps the Newman Catholic Student Center develop its mission, goals, and vision.
-Develops an active student organization on campus.
-Schedules priests to celebrate Mass and offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
-Oversees all pastoral and ministry activities, classes, services, retreats, and groups.
-Serves as the sacristan in coordinating worship and liturgical services.
-Directs an RCIA program for young adults needing to receive the Sacraments.
-Attends student organization meetings as an advisor and liaison.
-Leads the Newman Catholic Student Center’s efforts of outreach and evangelization.
-Provides pastoral care to students on spiritual, moral, and personal growth issues.
-Pays bills and handles the budget of the Newman Catholic Student Center.
-Participates in grant writing and fundraising efforts.
-Makes sure the building is kept clean and is suitable for celebrating Mass.
-Helps with young adult ministry in the Diocese of Corpus Christi and the outreach to Del Mar College.
-Communicates regularly with the Diocesan Director of Young Adult & Campus Ministry.
-Communicates regularly with the Diocesan Director of Vocations.

-Must be a faithful Catholic in good standing.
-A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Pastoral Ministry, or Catechetic.
-A Master’s degree in Theology and having experience in ministry is preferred.
-Must have a strong desire to work with college students and young adults.
-Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church and Catholic theology.
-Maintains a professional demeanor and has the ability to set appropriate personal boundaries.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual skills are preferred.
-Good pastoral care skills.
-Ability to help students deepen their union with Christ and His Church.
-Ability to cultivate a vocations culture and help students with their discernment.
-Ability to nurture strong Christian virtues among the students.
-Ability to attend to details, especially with handling the finances.
-Ability to work both independently and with a team.
-Ability to operate a personal computer and various software programs.
