Northwoods Catholic School | Business Manager
Scope of the Role:
The Business Manager reports directly to the President and is charged with overseeing the Finance, Operations, Facility, and HR systems and practices of the school. This role is a critical member of the leadership team.
• Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting.
• MBA preferred
• 5+ years progressive financial and administrative leadership experience in a non-profit organization, ideally an independent school.
• Experience with QuickBooks a requisite
Knowledge and Skills:
Well balanced Finance, Operations, Facility, and Human Resources skills, with an emphasis on financial oversight.
• constructively participate in the management team of the school, working with President and the other department heads with an attitude of collaboration and service;
• multitask in a fast-paced environment;
• effectively lead and manage a team;
• develop and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff and parents, including parents’ association and booster clubs
• organize, systematize and monitor programs and activities.
Superior organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
Hands-on, efficient, resourceful, hardworking, high energy, team player.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Excel.
Experience with QuickBooks a requisite
Finance and Accounting:
Successfully oversee and manage the financial operations of the school; including preparing monthly P&L statements, monitoring and reporting on cash flow, coordinating and overseeing all annual budgeting, auditing and recording processes; overseeing insurance policies & planning. Support the Admissions Director in managing and maintaining school’s enrollment contract processes and Financial Aid program.
Ensure the physical safety of all school properties is being maintained and monitored at all times. Oversee maintenance, upgrades, renovations, and purchasing systems ensuring that the aesthetic vision of the school environment is upheld and maintained as defined by the Board. Oversee all necessary licensing and contractual agreements for the school.
Coordinate with the President to develop effective hiring strategies, to maintain and disseminate policies and procedures, and to coordinate the evaluation and feedback systems.
Oversee and coordinate the work of the administrative and maintenance staff. Assist the President with decisions regarding salaries and benefits for all personnel, including the evaluation of administrative and maintenance staff.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Serve on committees as requested. Contribute to the effective management of any other auxiliary programs/enterprises of the school. Represent the school at various regional, state, and national associations relative to the role of being the Business Manager.
The Business Manager must be able to support the overall Catholic educational mission of the school and the implementation of all policies and standards, particularly in regard to Catholic faith and morals.
