Bishop Farrell calls for prayer in light of the Fort Hood shooting
November 12, 2009
Dallas, TX (MetroCatholic) – A message from Bishop Farrell:
The news of the shooting rampage at Fort Hood in Central Texas on November 5 is indeed a tragedy. The loss of so many lives and the wounding of so many others in what appears to be a senseless act is difficult to reconcile. At such times of great sadness and confusion, we certainly must turn to God in prayer.
I ask all of the Catholic faithful in the Diocese of Dallas to pray for the repose of the souls of all those killed and the recovery of the many wounded in this tragedy. Let us ask our Heavenly Father to grant the dead eternal rest and bring healing and comfort to the wounded, and the families of all involved.
We must also pray for an end to the senseless violence that plagues our country. Let us pray that God will change the hearts and minds of those who contemplate such violent acts and that through His grace, they will find peace.
Let us continue to pray for all of our men and women in the Armed Forces, that our Lord will be constantly with them and protect them while they serve in this country and in foreign lands.
