The Associate Director for Youth advocates for and coordinates youth ministry activities in the Catholic Diocese of Richmond. The Associate Director works closely with catechetical and youth ministry leaders in local parishes as well as Catholic school educators by resourcing and enabling them to minister to the youth population (grades 6 to 12). Through the Office for Evangelization of Youth and Young Adults, the Associate Director for Youth collaborates (when appropriate) with the Director of the Office for Evangelization of Youth and Young Adults and the Associate Director for Young Adults. The Associate Director will also seek to work closely with the Offices of Catholic Education and Vocations as well as other diocesan offices. Outside of the diocesan level, the Associate Director will seek to work closely with pastors, catechetical leaders, Catholic school educators, and local parish staff to accomplish the work of youth ministry. The position is full-time (minimum of 35 hours per week). Regular night and weekend hours are required throughout the year, especially for diocesan programs. The position is based out of the Diocesan Pastoral Center in Richmond and requires travel (when appropriate) to parishes in the diocese. Qualifications include but are not limited to a Master’s degree in Theology, Pastoral Ministry, or a related field; certification in Youth Ministry, a minimum of three years of prior professional experience in ministry required, preferably in youth, young adult, or campus ministry. Practicing Catholic in good standing, thorough knowledge of church teachings and theology with the ability to relate that knowledge to youth ministry. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
