ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS

The Office of Evangelization of Youth and Young Adults is seeking an Associate Director of Youth and Young Adults for the Central/Western Vicariates. This position will advocate and coordinate youth and young adult ministry activities in the Catholic Diocese of Richmond, specifically in the central/western vicariates (LPAs 8-19). The Associate Director works closely with catechetical, youth ministry and young adult ministry leaders in local parishes as well as Catholic school educators by resourcing and enabling them to minister the youth population (grades 6-12).
The Associate Director will collaborate regularly with the staff of the Office for Evangelization of Youth and Young Adults in addition the Associate Director will work closely with the Offices of Catholic Education and Vocations as well as other diocesan offices. Outside the diocesan level, the Associate Director seeks to work closely with pastors, catechetical leaders, Catholic school educators, and local parish staff to accomplish the work of youth and young adult ministry. A Master’s degree in Theology, Pastoral Ministry or a related field is required. Minimum of three years of prior professional experience in ministry, preferably in youth, young adult, or campus ministry is also required. Candidate should be a practicing Catholic in good standing; have the ability to articulate clear ministry vision and set appropriate milestones to accomplishing the vision; have a thorough knowledge of Church teachings and theology with the ability to relate that knowledge to youth ministry; fluent in relevant church documents pertaining to ministry and evangelization; knowledge of adolescent development, spiritual development and application; interpersonal skills in communication, collaboration, and group process; self-motivated, works easily alone or with others and ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in an office setting and at events.
