The Associate Director for Adult Faith Formation supports parish based adult faith formation in the context of evangelization and provides leadership training, services and resources to assist parish leaders to develop adult faith formation programs. These responsibilities include: parish consultations about adult faith formation; implementing diocesan programming for leaders of adult faith formation, oversight of the diocesan catechist formation program for catechists of parishes and Catholic schools and insures that related information on departmental website is up-to-date.
Bachelor’s degree in theology or pastoral ministry, or related field; Master’s degree preferred. Three years demonstrated leadership experience in a parish or Catholic institution with an additional 2 years pastoral experience in a Catholic institution if degree is non-Church related.
Additional requirements: Fully initiated Catholic and participating member of a Roman Catholic faith community; Knowledge of and support for the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, especially the Catechism of the Catholic Church and current Church documents as they pertain to evangelization and catechesis; Is knowledgeable of catechetical advancements/models; Understands the relationship of adult faith formation within the context of a parish-wide plan for lifelong faith formation; Knows and practices appropriate adult learning methods; Ability to maintain confidentiality; Ability to travel throughout the Diocese of Buffalo and work occasional evenings and weekends; Familiarity with social media and other technologies for use with adult learners.
