Position Summary: The Office of Campus Ministry supports the members of the Catholic University of America community in their individual and communal growth as they strive to live the message of the Gospel. The ministry is directed toward and seeks to involve all members of the CUA community: students, faculty, administrators and staff. The Office of Campus Ministry is responsible for articulating a vision for this ministry and for acquiring and developing the necessary resources for implementing the vision.

The Associate Campus Minister for Women and Pro-Life Ministry is responsible for ministering directly to the spiritual needs of students, in a special way to women on campus. The campus minister establishes programming, a ministry of presence and meets one on one with women in order to establish a relational ministry that helps students to encounter Christ and deepen their love for the Church. In addition, the Associate Campus Minister for education on how the gospel and Church teaching inform the conscience for promoting and integrating the Catholic Church’s vision of human life and dignity for both students and extended CUA community.

Responsibilities include: developing and coordinating ministry for the specific needs of female students including: facilitating women’s groups, advising faith-based student organizations, and organizing educational opportunities on women’s issues; providing a ministry of presence to female students by serving as a staff minister for female residence halls; providing a ministry of presence to women on campus by meeting one on one with them; acting as a point person for women seeking information and guidance on religious vocations; developing a pro-life ministry that promotes and integrates Catholic teaching on human life and dignity in the campus community; organizing the university’s participation in the National Prayer Vigil for Life, and the annual March for Life; establishing and maintaining contact with pro-life organizations, resources and programs; maintaining a directory of community and campus resources that promote life in women’s health; recording and managing data on student participation in women’s ministry; and planning and facilitating a university mission trip or pilgrimage experience.

Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required. A minimum of three (3) years’ of ministerial experience in the area of social justice and Catholic social teaching. Must be comfortable in representing the Church’s faith and moral traditions. This position requires occasional driving on behalf of university business. Possession of a current and valid U.S. driver’s license appropriate to the type of university vehicle and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record is required.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of and experience working on women’s issues is preferred.
