Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood, PA is seeking an Assistant Professor of Philosophy to begin in the 2014-2015 academic year.
Ph.D. in Philosophy is required (ABD considered). AOS: Medieval philosophy, especially St. Thomas Aquinas. AOC: Ancient philosophy, especially Aristotle.
The successful candidate will possess a strong sense of mission, a deep familiarity with the Catholic intellectual tradition, an understanding of the synthesis of faith and reason, and the role of philosophy in the development and articulation of Catholic theology.
Candidates for the position must possess a strong commitment to perennial philosophy as well as a comprehensive knowledge of the history of philosophy, and will be expected to teach courses that include, but are not limited to, Medieval philosophy, natural theology, Ancient philosophy, and elective courses as they arise.
The successful candidate will teach a 4/4 load in the Seminary College and in the Seminary’s Pre-Theology program, be a collegial teacher-scholar able to work collaboratively with other members of the department and Seminary faculty, serve on various Seminary committees, contribute to student learning assessment, and be committed to the Seminary’s mission and goals.
Candidates must demonstrate prior teaching excellence and be practicing Catholics. The successful candidate will make a profession of faith and an oath of fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.
