Assistant Director of Campus Ministry

•Provide a ministry of presence and pastoral care with students to encourage faith formation and assimilation, personal growth, and vocation discernment.
•Evangelize and form students in their Catholic faith and encourage the faith development of non-Catholic students in their own traditions.
•Coordinate the planning, preparation, training and evaluation of all ministerial programming at the Newman Center.
•Cultivate and develop initiative among students and student officers. Oversee the efforts of the elected Newman Center Officers.
•Work with Director to create and implement new strategies and new programs according to the changing needs of the community.
•Maintain visible, proactive outreach and communication with the university students, staff, and faculty.
•Coordinate and update all communication efforts, from advertising to website.
•Manage programming funds within the Archdiocesan budget and within the University budget.
•Serve as an Advisory Board member.
•Collaborate with Part-time Campus Minister concerning programming and responsibilities

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Prior experience in campus ministry as a participant or in leadership role is required. Candidate must have experience in training, mentoring, and supervising college-aged individuals; a demonstrated skill in written and oral communication, and a sound understanding of the Catholic faith in the vibrant spirit of the Second Vatican Council as well as an understanding of the role of Campus Ministry as stated in the Bishops’ pastoral letter, “Empowered by the Spirit.” Successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual able to meet deadlines, who is comfortable learning any technology basics required and comfortable working collaboratively within a small team. Candidate will have proficiency in use of computers, particularly in the Microsoft Office programs, spreadsheets, internet and e-mail. Experience with Macromedia Dreamweaver [a website publishing tool] is a plus. Successful candidate must complete the Archdiocesan ‘Protecting God’s Children’ program. Physical Requirements: Lift up to 50 pounds.
