Job Duties:
The Archdiocese of Washington’s Official Newspaper, the Catholic Standard, is seeking a full-time, highly motivated, versatile and experienced sales assistant to join an experienced sales team lead by the director of sales and marketing.
Duties include scheduling reservations for incoming and existing advertisements; creating classified pages and the layout of the weekly newspaper; processing insertion orders received from the sales representatives; assisting in selling and marketing of classified and business directory advertising; confirming of the receipt of and distribution of communications relating to new and existing clients; ensuring that advertisements comply with the standards and mission of the Archdiocese of Washington and publication; using departmental guidelines to assist in ensuring the accuracy of assessments of client financial stability before credit is extended; ensuring credit limits are approved by the director of advertising or designated signatory; and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
A strong desire to support and facilitate the mission of the Catholic Church as well as respect for her teachings and practices; a high school diploma or equivalent; minimum of six months experience and an associate’s degree in marketing, advertising, or related field preferred or three years combination of education, training and experience; proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook for Mac; proficiency with desktop publishing software such as QuarkXPress and Adobe Photoshop; ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing) and ability to communicate effectively in Spanish (verbally and in writing) preferred; demonstrated ability to create edition layout using layout and graphics software; ability to type 35 words per minute and occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds; excellent attention to detail and accuracy; superb organizational skills and ability to succeed in a fast paced environment; ability to apply effective time management skills to meet goals and deadlines; and ability to upload and maintain advertising on the website.
