4TH GRADE TEACHER
Education: Elementary, FT Employee
Immaculata Classical Academy (Louisville, KY)
Our successful and rapidly expanding Preschool-12th grade classical liberal arts academy is seeking an enthusiastic and joyful teacher for our 4th grade classroom. The candidate should be a practicing Catholic, willing to make an Oath of Fidelity and whose life of faith serves as an example to our students and families. The ability to teach Latin is very desirable, as instruction in the Church’s language is an integral part of our curriculum and likewise in the prayer and sacramental life of the school. Also, knowledge of the humanities, particularly Greek and Roman history and mythology, would be of great benefit. Subjects which are the responsibility of the teacher include: Religion, Math, Latin, Literature, English/Writing, Science, Geography and Classical History (Greek History).
Above all, we seek a candidate who believes in and embraces our unique mission, which not only seeks to rebuild the educational tradition of the Church, but also works to offer this education to a wide range of students, including those with special needs. Because we include children with special needs within the regular classroom (1-2 per class), the suitable candidate will have a spirit of love and service towards these and all our children, and while previous experience with special needs children is appreciated, most importantly our candidate should be open and willing to be taught, trained and guided by our hired special needs expert.
Ideally, candidates will have advanced degrees in addition to teaching experience. However, we do not require our candidates to have advanced degrees, but in its absence would seek a candidate with teaching experience. We are also open to new teachers who would be eager to embrace our traditional and structured approach to teaching.
Additionally, our school is one of a few in the nation to implement the Ward Method of music instruction. We would appreciate a teacher with some musical background who would be willing to be trained in the method and be guided by our head Ward instructor. This, however, is not a required aspect of this position.
